New Expressway Planned to Reduce Traffic on Noida Expressway: Route & Key Details

To tackle increasing traffic congestion on the Noida Greater Noida Expressway, authorities are planning a new parallel expressway that will serve as an alternative route and ease vehicular pressure on the existing corridor. The proposed project involves constructing a new expressway of around 30 35 kilometers , which will run parallel to the Yamuna River along the Yamuna Pushta Road. The route is expected to begin near Kalindi Kunj (close to the Delhi border) and extend towards Greater Noida, eventually connecting with the Yamuna Expressway. This new corridor is being planned as a bypass to the current Noida Expressway , which experiences heavy traffic due to rapid urbanization, growing residential developments, and increasing daily commuting demand. Key Features of the Proposed Expressway Length of approximately 32 35 km Possible design options include: An 8-lane road along the Yamuna embankment A 6-lane elevated corridor depending on feasibility Direct connectivity between Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida Link to the Yamuna Expressway for improved regional travel Purpose of the Project The main objective of this new expressway is to reduce congestion on the existing Noida Expressway , which is one of the busiest routes in NCR. With the upcoming Noida International Airport and continuous urban expansion, traffic volume is expected to rise significantly in the coming years. By providing an alternative high-speed route, authorities aim to: Reduce travel time Improve traffic flow Minimize bottlenecks during peak hours Enhance overall connectivity across NCR Connectivity Benefits The new expressway will improve access to several key residential and commercial sectors located along the Yamuna belt, including sectors in Noida and Greater Noida. It will also provide smoother connectivity for commuters traveling between Delhi and the upcoming airport region. Additionally, integration with other infrastructure projects such as expressways and regional road networks is expected to create a more efficient transport system across the NCR. Current Status The project is currently in the planning and feasibility stage. Authorities are evaluating whether to construct an elevated road or a ground-level expressway, with the final decision to be taken after the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR). Conclusion The proposed new expressway is a major step toward improving transportation in Noida and surrounding regions. By offering an alternative route to the existing expressway, it aims to reduce congestion, support future growth, and enhance connectivity, especially with the development of the Noida International Airport.
