Haryana to Develop a New City Near Faridabad Along KMP Expressway

The Haryana government has moved forward with its ambitious plan to create five new urban centres along the Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway. Following the announcement of a new city near Manesar, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has now invited consultants to prepare a master plan for another new city adjoining Faridabad. The proposed city will be located in the south-eastern region of Delhi and will share boundaries with both Faridabad and Uttar Pradesh. According to the Chief Minister of Haryana, the new city will be larger than Chandigarh, spanning nearly 56,000 hectares. The project will also include the redevelopment and modernization of several rural areas in Faridabad to meet future urban requirements. Earlier in June, the state government revealed plans to develop new cities within a two-kilometre stretch on either side of the KMP Expressway under the name Panchagram. A draft bill for the Panchagram Development Authority has already been prepared and is expected to be presented in the state assembly after receiving cabinet approval. Addressing a press conference organised around MSME funding, the state industries minister highlighted that the KMP Expressway is expected to significantly transform Haryana s industrial landscape. He stated that the government has introduced several initiatives to support entrepreneurs, strengthen industrial growth, and generate large-scale employment across the state. As part of this vision, an industrial and commercial township is being developed over 3,300 acres in Kharkhoda, Sonipat. This township is being described as a first-of-its-kind development in Haryana. Additionally, another industrial model township covering 1,400 acres has already been developed in Sohna, Gurugram. Both these townships will have direct connectivity to the KMP Expressway, while the Sohna project will also be linked to the Gurugram Sohna Alwar Highway. The state government also plans to establish an industrial corridor along the western stretch of the KMP Expressway, equipped with modern and world-class infrastructure facilities. Emphasising the importance of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the minister described them as the foundation of the industrial ecosystem. He noted that MSMEs require relatively low capital investment and play a crucial role in employment generation. The government is currently finalising a dedicated MSME policy, which is expected to be released soon and is anticipated to provide a major boost to the sector. Industries are also being supported under the Enterprise Promotion Policy, which offers benefits such as investment subsidies, interest support on loans, assistance for technology adoption, testing infrastructure support, stamp duty refunds, and reduced electricity tariffs.
