The Faridabad Noida Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway is a major infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening connectivity between Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Designed to directly link Faridabad with Noida and Ghaziabad, the expressway will reduce dependence on Delhi s congested roads while improving regional mobility and economic integration. Once operational, the FNG Expressway is expected to significantly cut travel time, ease traffic pressure on existing routes, and encourage commercial as well as residential development along its alignment. FNG Expressway: Project Overview The under-construction expressway will stretch across approximately 56 km and feature six lanes , with provisions for future expansion up to eight lanes. The corridor is designed for high-speed travel and is expected to be completed in phases over the next few years. Engineered by IIT Roorkee , the expressway is part of the broader National Expressway framework (NE-2 / Eastern Peripheral network) . Once complete, it is projected to reduce travel time between Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad to 30 45 minutes , compared to nearly an hour at present. Connectivity between Gurgaon and Ghaziabad is also expected to improve substantially, bringing travel time down from over two hours to under 45 minutes. Safety infrastructure will include guardrails, proper signage, emergency call facilities and access-controlled entry and exit points. FNG Expressway Route Details The expressway passes through three major NCR cities, with varying stretch lengths: Faridabad: ~28 km Noida: ~8 km Greater Noida: ~28 km The Noida segment is expected to become operational first, followed by the Faridabad and Ghaziabad sections. A portion of the Noida stretch between NH-24 and Sector 117 is already functional. Faridabad Stretch The route originates near Greater Faridabad , passing through Lalpur village. Plans also include a 600-metre Yamuna bridge to directly connect Faridabad and Noida. The expressway will serve emerging sectors such as 75, 84, 88 and 89 , which are witnessing rapid residential and industrial growth. Noida Stretch In Noida, the expressway starts near Sector 94 and passes through Sectors 121, 122, 140 and 150 , terminating near Sector 168 . It intersects with the Noida Greater Noida Expressway and includes elevated road sections and another Yamuna crossing. Ghaziabad Stretch The Ghaziabad segment will begin near NH-34 and connect to the Delhi Meerut Expressway , linking areas such as Arya Nagar, Hindon Vihar and Rahul Vihar. Impact on Regional Connectivity The FNG Expressway is designed to act as a key arterial road in NCR, offering an alternative to Delhi s crowded corridors. Travel time across cities is expected to reduce by nearly 50 percent . The expressway will also provide seamless access to the upcoming Jewar International Airport , reducing travel time from Faridabad to around 20 minutes , compared to nearly two hours currently.
