The Delhi Metro Golden Line , earlier referred to as the Silver Line, is a key upcoming corridor of the Delhi Metro network under Phase-4 expansion . This corridor will span approximately 26 km , linking Tughlakabad with Delhi Aerocity , and will significantly improve connectivity between South Delhi and the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Once operational, the line will integrate with several existing metro corridors, ensuring seamless travel across major residential, commercial, and transit hubs of the capital. The Golden Line is targeted for completion by March 2026 . Tunnelling operations are underway across multiple sections of the corridor. In March 2025 , a major milestone was achieved when a tunnel boring machine completed a 1.55-km underground stretch between Kishangarh and Vasant Kunj stations. The project involves complex engineering work, including deep underground tunnels, cut-and-cover structures, ramps, and multiple underground stations. Direct Airport Connectivity: Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 October 30, 2025 Update: A new metro station is planned on the Golden Line to directly connect Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 1 with Terminal 3. This integrated station will provide smooth intra-airport travel, addressing the long-standing gap between the terminals. At present: Terminal 3 is served by the Airport Express Line Terminal 1 is connected via the Magenta Line No direct metro link exists between T1 and T3 The Golden Line will bridge this gap and significantly reduce transfer time. Why the Silver Line Was Renamed Golden Line In January 2024 , the corridor s colour code was changed from silver to gold. The decision was taken to improve visual clarity, as silver markings blended with the stainless-steel body of metro trains, while gold provides higher contrast and better passenger visibility.
