UP Government Allocates ₹25,310 Crore for Urban Development & Smart Cities

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has allocated ₹25,310 crore in its 2025-2026 budget to accelerate urban development and enhance infrastructure across the state. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life in urban areas by developing advanced building structures, upgraded amenities, and modern sports facilities, including an international shooting range. The budget focuses on enhancing public services, recreational centres, and convention spaces in 17 major cities governed by municipal corporations. In addition, municipal councils (nagar palikas) and town councils (nagar panchayats) will see improvements in operations, aligning with the government s smart city initiatives. A dedicated ₹400 crore has been reserved for the smart city project, emphasizing digital and sustainable urban planning. Infrastructure upgrades also include ₹1,131 crore for the stormwater drainage system in 10 cities, ensuring better urban water management. Additionally, ₹4,100 crore has been allocated under the Amrut 2.0 scheme to improve urban amenities and services. To advance road infrastructure, the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme has been assigned ₹800 crore, supporting model road development across key urban centres. These urban development initiatives are set to enhance the economic landscape of Uttar Pradesh, making the state more livable and attractive for residents and investors. The expansion of smart city projects and modern infrastructure is expected to boost the real estate market, increasing demand for premium residential and commercial properties in emerging urban hubs.
