UP Government Allocates ₹400 Crore for Harnandipuram Township in Ghaziabad

In a recent budget meeting, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government approved a ₹400 crore funding for the development of Harnandipuram Township in Ghaziabad. This funding, to be disbursed soon, will primarily be used for land acquisition, paving the way for the township s expansion. Government s Commitment to Harnandipuram Township The Harnandipuram Township project was first introduced in November 2024, during a Lucknow meeting with the Awas Vikas Department. The UP government committed to supporting the project by allocating funds to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). The township is part of a larger ₹3,000 crore development plan, out of which: ₹1,366.2 crore has been set aside as capital seed to initiate the project. The latest ₹400 crore installment will supplement existing funds. Land Acquisition & Development Plan A significant portion of the funds 75% will be used for acquiring land and initiating infrastructure development. Once the allocated funds are fully utilized, the State will release a second installment for further progress. To meet project requirements, GDA must acquire an additional 127 hectares, sourced from private landowners, while the rest is already owned by GDA or the Gram Sabha. GDA will negotiate land rates with private landowners. If negotiations fail, the authority will proceed under the Land Acquisition Act. Supervision & Compensation Process A six-member committee, led by the Ghaziabad District Magistrate, will oversee the land acquisition process and ensure fair compensation. The committee includes: Additional District Magistrate (Finance & Revenue) GDA Vice Chairperson A Tehsil-level official A Stamp Department Representative Project Cost & Funding Structure The total cost of the Harnandipuram Township development is estimated at ₹15,000 crore.
