However, a recent visit to her colleague’s home in Faridabad completely changed her perception. Well-planned roads, growing infrastructure, and improved connectivity made her question the long-held stereotypes.

So, what caused this transformation? The answer lies in the Faridabad Master Plan 2031, a visionary roadmap designed to redefine the city’s urban and economic landscape.

Located nearly 35 km from Delhi, Faridabad is a major industrial center, known for manufacturing tractors, motorcycles, electrical appliances, footwear, and tyres. Its proximity to Delhi NCR, including Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram, makes it a strategically important city. Recognising its rapid growth, the Government of Haryana has introduced a comprehensive master plan aimed at long-term, sustainable development.

Faridabad Master Plan 2031: Present-Day Infrastructure Snapshot

While the Master Plan 2031 focuses on the future, Faridabad already enjoys strong infrastructure foundations:

  • A well-organised road network and stable electricity supply across urban and rural areas

  • All villages in the district connected through paved roads since the 1970s

  • Broad-gauge railway lines of Northern Railway and North-Central Railway passing through the city

  • Seamless road connectivity via NH-44

  • Efficient public transport, including buses, autos, cabs, and Delhi Metro, connecting Faridabad to Delhi and adjoining regions

Faridabad Master Plan 2031: Key Highlights

The Master Plan proposes several major infrastructure upgrades to support population growth and mobility:

  • A 60-metre-wide arterial road with 12-metre service roads at intervals of 1 km and 1.5 km

  • A 100-metre-wide road flanked by green belts on both sides, promoting sustainable urban development

  • A 75-metre-wide corridor linking the KGP Expressway to Sectors 121 and 132

  • Multiple railway overbridges on both eastern and western sides, including Mewla Maharajpur and Sarai Khawaja–Surajkund Road

  • A dedicated Mumbai–Dadri freight corridor with a 50-metre green belt and service roads on both sides

  • Two direct link roads from the outer peripheral road near Sectors 92 and 95 for smoother Noida connectivity

  • Extension of metro services from Ballabgarh to Sikri, covering sectors along the bypass road

  • Conservation of monuments and heritage structures as a core planning priority

  • Development of Special Zone-II on HPGCL land near Mujesar for mixed residential and commercial use

  • Proposed 75-metre and 90-metre roads along the Agra Canal, connecting Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, and Prithla

Recent updates indicate accelerated progress under the master plan:

  • A new development plan is underway for Faridabad and Palwal, aligned with growth near Jewar International Airport

  • ₹878.2 crore allocated for new phase development in 2023–24

  • Planned road widening, advanced CCTV surveillance, and major water infrastructure upgrades

  • Water supply capacity to increase from 330 MLD to 450 MLD, supported by 12 Ranney wells
