Delhi Metro Red Line to Extend Up to Kundli, Haryana

The Union Cabinet has approved the extension of the Delhi Metro Red Line, enabling it to run from Rithala in Delhi up to Kundli in Haryana. With this expansion, the Delhi Metro network is set to become the third-largest metro system globally. The project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Delhi and the northern parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). Here are all the key details of the Red Line extension project. Project Overview The Delhi Metro Red Line Extension will span 26.46 kilometres , covering the Rithala Narela Kundli corridor . The route will feature 21 elevated metro stations and is projected to be completed within four years from the date of approval . The estimated cost of the project stands at approximately Rs 6,230 crore . Notably, this corridor will not include any interchange stations and will exclusively serve the areas along its alignment. Proposed Stations on the Red Line Extension The extended route will pass through the following locations: Rithala Rohini Sector 25 Rohini Sector 26 Rohini Sector 31 Rohini Sector 32 Rohini Sector 36 Barwala Rohini Sector 35 Rohini Sector 34 Bawana Industrial Area (Sectors 3 & 4) Bawana Industrial Area (Sectors 1 & 2) Bawana JJ Colony Sanoth New Sanoth Depot Station Bhorgarh Village Anaj Mandi, Narela Narela DDA Sports Complex Narela Narela Sector 5 Kundli Nathupur Expansion into Haryana and NCR At present, the Red Line operates between Shaheed Sthal in Ghaziabad and Rithala in Delhi , serving major parts of East and Central Delhi. Once the extension is operational, the Red Line will become the fourth Delhi Metro corridor to enter Haryana , joining the Yellow Line (Gurgaon), Violet Line (Faridabad), and Green Line (Bahadurgarh). The extension will also make Kundli the sixth NCR city to be directly connected by the Delhi Metro network. Additionally, this corridor will mark a significant milestone as the first metro route linking Haryana and Uttar Pradesh through Delhi .
