FNG Expressway: A Major Infrastructure Project in NCR

The Faridabad–Noida–Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway is an important road infrastructure project planned to strengthen connectivity across the National Capital Region. Once completed, the expressway will link three major cities—Faridabad in Haryana and Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh—providing a direct route without passing through Delhi.

The project aims to reduce traffic congestion on existing roads and significantly shorten travel time for daily commuters travelling between these cities.

Key Features of the FNG Expressway

The expressway is planned as a six-lane corridor that can be expanded to eight lanes in the future. The total length of the project is around 56 kilometres, making it one of the major connectivity corridors in NCR.

Key features include:

  • Six-lane access-controlled roadway

  • Multi-level interchanges and flyovers

  • Wide median to separate traffic directions

  • Safety infrastructure such as guardrails and signage

  • Emergency lanes and drainage systems

These features are expected to improve safety and traffic flow along the route.

Route and Connectivity

The FNG Expressway will connect multiple cities and important sectors across NCR. The corridor will pass through Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, creating a continuous road network across the region.

The expressway includes:

  • Approximately 28 km in Faridabad

  • Around 20 km in Noida and Greater Noida

  • Nearly 8 km in Ghaziabad

The project also includes a bridge over the Yamuna River, which will provide direct connectivity between Faridabad and Noida.

Travel Time Reduction

One of the main objectives of the expressway is to make travel faster between major NCR cities. Currently, commuters often have to pass through congested routes in Delhi to travel between Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

After completion, the expressway is expected to reduce travel time significantly. Journeys that currently take over an hour could be completed in about 30–45 minutes, improving daily commuting for thousands of people.

Project Status and Timeline

The FNG Expressway project was originally proposed decades ago but faced several delays due to land acquisition issues, funding challenges, and coordination between different authorities.

However, progress has resumed in recent years. Several stretches in Noida are already developed, while remaining sections are being planned or constructed. Authorities expect the project to move forward in phases, with full connectivity targeted in the coming years.
